T&T Supermarkets will open a second store in Kanata near Ottawa, in 2024 as well as a new store in London, ON. These join the recently opened Fairview Mall location in Toronto this spring and a new Montreal location which opened late last year. The Asian chain is part of the Loblaw banners.
Loblaws plans to open a City Market location in Vancouver’s West Broadway and Granville neighbourhood in 2025.
Longo’s has opened its 37th store in Whitby, ON. Longo’s is now part of the Empire company which also owns Sobeys.
Value retailer Giant Tiger opened an 18,000 square foot store in Ontario’s cottage country in Huntsville. This is in addition to their fifth store in Montreal this spring, a new store in New Brunswick in June and plans for the fourth Windsor, ON location this fall.
Food Basics opened a new store in July in Oakville, ON. The 144th location near the Burlington/Oakville border joins a new store in Port Elgin that opened in May. Food Basics is part of the Metro chain which has seen it’s own challenges this summer with as 3,700 workers strike at 27 stores in the GTA.
