Walmart Canada has a new President and CEO, Gonzalo Gebara . He has been with the company 23 years in finance, strategy, marketing and e-commerce in the U.S., Argentina and most recently Chile. He will oversee billions of dollars of investment in Walmart Canada.

Walmart has opened its very first distribution centre in Atlantic Canada.  The 223,000 square foot, $50 million dollar facility is located in Moncton, NB. It will  service 40 Walmart stores in the region and east coast customers will now have better product availability.  It will be able to process more than two million cases of product each month.

They will be opening another $100 million fulfillment centre near Montreal as a delivery hub for both Quebec and Atlantic Canada.  Expected to be ready by 2024 this 457,000 square foot building will be able to deliver 20 million items annually.

Walmart plans to renovate and refresh 80 Canadian stores this year to the tune of $330 million.  They will also open a high tech facility in Rocky View County, Alberta. It is all part of a multi-year plan to spend $3.5 billion to improve the customer shopping experience. Walmart Canada plans to spend $1 billion on infrastructure projects this year.
